Glimpses: Week 4

Week 4 - another glimpse into my life.  While the other two were upstairs for quiet time, I was able to spend some time on the floor with Claire and her favorite activity mat!  I love how alert and happy she seems in these photos - at just over 2 months old, her smile is really starting to show!

A Christmas Blessing {Metro Detroit Newborn, Family, Children's Photographer}

Just before Christmas, my sister-in-law's sister was surprised to find out that a baby was waiting for them to adopt!  After years of hoping for a little one, here she was - a Christmas blessing.  I felt so lucky to be able to photograph her at just 10 days old and to share in the excitement surrounding her arrival.

So, without further ado, I present Baby Hannah!!!

Glimpses: Week 3

Another week, another glimpse (or glimpses) into my life!

This was a big week for us - Sophie started to read!  I must have the only 4 year old who asked for workbooks for Christmas, but clearly, they're paying off!  It all seemed to click on Thursday!

Glimpses: Week 2

"Reading"
When Graham was first born, I vividly remember Sophie (at 2 1/2) "reading" to him as he swung from side to side.  I'm pretty sure that the literature of choice then was Dora Saves the Mermaid Kingdom or some variety of fairy tale.  Imagine my surprise and excitement this week when Graham started doing the same thing with his little sister Claire.  But this time with a riveting story of trucks!  Lucky for me, my camera was at hand and I was able to quickly capture this fleeting moment.  Later in the day, after Sophie's dance lesson, she also read to Graham.  I find myself constantly in awe of these little people and their relationships with each other!

Glimpses: Week 1

Happy New Year!!  I hope your year is off to a wonderful start!  In an effort to better document the lives of my children in 2012, I've decided to try and capture my family more "in the moment," during everyday (and sometimes mundane) activities.  So, I've joined a project - Glimpses - the 52 Project - to keep me motivated and help provide me with an outlet to present the images I capture.  The project is hosted by Chic Critique Forum - a great forum for photographers to get honest critique from their peers.
So, here's my photograph from week 1 -- "First Haircut."  Can you believe Graham is now 22 months old and never had a haircut?!?  I've been so attached to those adorable little curls that I couldn't bear to chop off even a little bit.  But the time had come -- he really was starting to look like a clown with long corkscrew curls projecting out of the side of his head.  He was perfect during the first cut - a little worried but no crying.  And now he looks so grown up - curls still intact :)
