Maternity Session

Last weekend I shot a great maternity session, and I had such a hard time picking out images for this blog preview. You can see how excited they are, and also what a great big brother little "N" will be. I can't believe the baby is due next month, and I can't wait to meet their baby girl! Enjoy the preview!

Gallery Wraps!

Is there an image from your session that you would love to feature as a large gallery wrap in your living room, dining room, or master bedroom? Well, now is the time to invest.... All gallery wraps ordered before December 31st are 20% off. Contact me to place your order!

*** Gallery wraps are printed on fine art canvas and wrapped around 1 1/2-inch wooden stretchers.

Poinsettias

Last month my mother-in-law and I took my little "S" to a greenhouse full of poinsettias (lucky for us that my mother-in-law's family owns the greenhouses!!) It turned out to be the perfect location for some holiday inspired photos with "S" modeling the newest addition to my growing prop collection -- an adorable green tutu with detachable red flower. I've finally gotten around to editing these photos, just in time to make our holiday card, and I thought I'd share....enjoy!!
I love how contemplative she looks here -- just thinking and observing the beautiful red flowers (with maybe a little pout thrown in)!
It was so fun to shoot in a beautiful new location; unfortunately it's in Ohio, so I won't be able to use the location with any other potential clients. But -- keep your eyes open and let me know if you've seen any local locations to share for upcoming sessions.... there are so many great possibilities out there!

It's Beginning to Look...

... a lot like Christmas!

This weekend I was lucky enough to spend some time with the S family, including two sets of grandparents. It might be getting cold outside, but indoor portraits offer a lot of possibilities. Check out the beautiful holiday decorations that were incorporated into the session!

Two-year old "N" and seven-week old "Z" were perfect little models, so get ready for quite a few images.

It's quite clear that "N" loves his little brother!
And the grandparents love them both so much, too!
After more formally dressed portraits, this family decided to change into comfy, matching Christmas pajamas. How cute are they!?!
We also saved some time for portraits of baby "Z."

Cousins

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Here are some images from a session I did on Monday. You might remember little "H" from his three-month session back in April. It's hard to believe that he's now mobile and even taking a few steps! "H" is joined by his cousin "J", who was visiting all the way from Germany! This session was a lot of fun, and I had such a hard time picking out images to show on my blog -- I might even do a second post with some of the larger extended family images....stay tuned.

Here's "H" -- growing up!
And little "J."
I love this image -- look how happy J's mom is!!

Photo Challenge - Sun Flare

As I've mentioned before, I really want to start working on capturing sun flare in my photographs. I love the beautiful and ethereal quality it adds to images. I know I have a lot of work ahead of me to "master" this technique. But, here is one of my first attempts... and also my first entry into a I ♥ Faces weekly photo challenge.

Daily inspiration!

I regularly follow several blogs -- but the one that I most look forward to viewing every day is The Savvy Photographer. I love the interviews with photographers, profiles on products, gorgeous images, and giveaways. It's always inspiring and energizing -- a great way to start your day! Check it out!

D Family Sneak Peek!

Unlike most of our fall, last weekend provided us with a beautiful, warm day. Luckily we had rescheduled the D Family portrait session from the previous weekend and were awarded with gorgeous weather. Check out the beautiful blue eyes on baby K!
Remember M from last fall? He's gotten so big, and had a lot of fun playing peekaboo with me and the camera!
Hope you enjoy the sneak peek!!

New Referral Program

I'm starting a new referral program! Upon receiving your print order, you will also get 5 personalized referral cards to share with friends and family, which they can use for a $15 credit towards their session fee. For each referred person that books, you will also get a $15 credit....meaning that you can receive up to a $75 credit (or free session) just for referring 5 people to me!

Fun in the leaves!

I thought I'd share some recent pictures of my little one playing in the leaves. I love this little series below of her in action -- winding up to throw leaves in the air and then watching with glee as they start to ascend and fall. I'm also really loving the sun flare in this image. One of the techniques I'm hoping to improve upon is shooting with sun flare to achieve artistic and ethereal results. Here's one of my first "successes," in my opinion. I really like how the sun hits the front of her face, blurring out some of the details into a soft glow.

R Family

I posted a sneak peek of this beautiful family earlier, but here are a few more from their session in Northville. I added some vintage texture to a couple of the images, like the one below -- what do you think?
This is one of my favorite images from their session. I love how the light glows behind the trees and through the clouds.
